Stately Sandwiches

Chicago artist Kelly Pratt has set out on a culinary journey to design a sandwich for each of the 50 U.S. states in a project called Stately Sandwiches.

A dietary staple to most Americans, bringing convenient and portable meals with the helped early 1900s ability of pre-sliced bread, the sandwiches reflect each state’s culture, history and especially their flavour.

With 13 states checked off her list so far, Ms Pratt’s first in January captured Illinois, concocting an Italian beef sandwich on a white roll with bell peppers and giardiniera.
